The problems I had experienced must be down to software I had downloaded and using now. They said my iMac passed all the diagnostics, they had reinstalled Catalina and all was well. My wife collected the machine as I was at work.
The Apple store have in the last 6 weeks replaced the logic board but as still having problems so got it looked at again. Having a few problems including general system speed and three new SSDs (external) unmounting within three days.
